Tiraspol è la capitale e il centro amministrativo della non riconosciuta Repubblica Moldava Pridnestroviana (Transnistria). La città si trova sulla riva orientale del fiume Dniester. La città è anche sede della società Elektromash, di cui il presidente Igor Smirnov è stato direttore generale: specializzata in prodotti elettrici, la società è sospettata di fare da copertura alla vendita illegale di armi destinate al terrorismo internazionale.
Tiraspol is the capital and administrative centre of the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Transnistria). The city is located on the eastern bank of the Dniester River. It is known for being one of the few cities that are not yet widely changed from when they were part of the Soviet Union. There are still many statues of Lenin and beside paintings of Stalin are those of Che Guevara. The city is also home Elektromash company, of which the President Igor Smirnov has been general manager: specialized in electrical products, the company is suspected of making a cover for the illegal sale of weapons destined for international terrorism.
